Adaptations
Well its been 7 months already that i have been in Saskatchewan so there is lots to talk about since i have last posted… There will be plenty of new stories to come at that point! Till then let’s talk about integration.

Integration is adaptation to a new environment. We’ve all done it before, when we first went to school we integrated ourselves into our class and made friends as though creating our own clans as if we were going to war. We re-integrated ourselves every year with a new set of classmates and built our clans with even more allies with whom we would stand by one another in order to defend ourselves against a common enemy. Integration is part of our biological programming, it’s part of survival and it’s definitely part of life.

7 months ago, I willingly chose to move to a whole new environment and situation in which I would have learn to integrate myself to a brand new community. The decision wasn’t easy, but it had to be made. I knew once the decision was made that there would be no turning back. Once I had arrived I realized how big the obstacle of integration would be in a community that is miles away from family and friends and all the things i was accustomed to. I had to face this obstacle on my own! It took some time but I did eventually pull through and truly made myself a part of this community making friends at the local bowling alley and made the best of friends at work as well. But to be honest none of this could have been possible without the undying support of my fiance. We have had our arguments but we always pull through! She’s my rock and it’s thanks to her I have made it this far!

Integration is adaptation to a new environment. Whether it’s going to a new school or even starting a new job, it’s a part of life. I’m just glad I had someone by my side to help me make it this far. She may not have been there physically but through text messages, phone calls, smoke signals, skype and even a letter or two. So to my fiance, thank you for helping me grow into a better man and a better person!
